1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Secreta ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

Secreta is a secure password management service that provides storage and management of your credentials using client-side encryption. The Service includes:

  • Secure password storage with AES-256 encryption
  • Password generation tools
  • Vault organization and sharing
  • Two-factor authentication
  • Cross-device synchronization

3. Account Registration

To use our Service, you must:

  • Create an account with a valid email address
  • Create a strong master password
  • Be at least 13 years of age
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Master Password Responsibility

Critical: Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot recover or reset your master password. You are solely responsible for:

  • Remembering your master password
  • Storing your master password securely
  • Keeping backup codes in a safe location

If you forget your master password and do not have backup codes, you will lose access to all encrypted data. We cannot assist with password recovery as we do not have access to your unencrypted data.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Store or transmit illegal content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Share your account with others (except through vault sharing features)
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

6. Subscription and Payment

Free Tier

The free tier includes limited features as described on our pricing page. Free accounts may be subject to limitations on storage and features.

Paid Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis
  • All fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated
  • Prices may change with 30 days notice
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your billing period

Cancellation

When you cancel a paid subscription:

  • You retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period
  • After the billing period ends, your account reverts to the free tier
  • If your stored data exceeds free tier limits, you will need to reduce it or resubscribe

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Secreta and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of any content you store in the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and transmit your encrypted data solely to provide the Service.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

We implement zero-knowledge encryption, meaning we cannot access your encrypted data. However, we may collect and process certain metadata as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be:

  • Temporarily unavailable for maintenance
  • Subject to interruptions beyond our control
  • Modified or discontinued with reasonable notice

We recommend maintaining local backups of critical credentials.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Secreta shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, use, or other intangible losses
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • Any third-party conduct or content
  • Loss of data due to forgotten master passwords

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Security or reliability of the Service

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Secreta, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for:

  • Breach of these Terms
  • Violation of applicable laws
  • Conduct harmful to other users or the Service

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may export your data before termination where possible.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Terms on our website
  • Sending an email to registered users
  • Displaying a notice in the Service

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Secreta operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

16. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through:

  1. Good faith negotiation between the parties
  2. Mediation, if negotiation fails
  3. Binding arbitration as a last resort

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
